And I wrote a song about the rhododendron
growing by the river.
And did you know that the rhododendron
resembles the mountain laurel?
And when the two get together,
they create a trifecta
with the dog hobble?
And for the hiker,
this is trouble.
'Cause it's a heath's hell,
but how heavenly the smell,
you're olfactory will be
on sensory overload.
And don't awake me not just yet.
I haven't seen today's sunset.
And don't awake me not just yet.
I haven't seen today's sunset.
And I wrote a song about the rhododendron
growing by the river.
But it wasn't 'til June
'til I saw it in bloom
past the sand dunes of Neskowin.
Oh, Neskowin,
it was too cold to swim.
But we crossed Hawk's Creek
with cold feet
to the top of Proposal Rock.
How we scrambled
as we ambled
until we reached the top.
And every now and then I fell,
so I stayed sandwiched in between
Tyler and Michelle.
And we watched the waves come in
as the waxing moon
did descend.
Shall we go to your studio
off of School House Road?
Listening to Teen Dreams in the Beach House,
in the bedroom,
but on the couch?
An hour goes by
and somehow we're together,
right now.
How I felt rejected,
but you corrected that for me,
somehow.
By saying, "This is all for you,"
but when I asked you why,
there was no reply.
But before I had to leave,
you looked me in the eyes
and mentioned synchronicity.
All of the things we try to remember,
and all of the things we then try to render.
Of all of the things we've gone through
and even did forget.
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
I’m so grateful this crossed my path. This album is so beautiful. All the clear technique and mastery and vision are kinda secondary to the fact that this album brought me calm and joy during one of the most difficult times in my life. Yeah, grateful. David McCullough
Washington DC celloist & multi-instrumentalist with a reflective, experimental but accessible collection of ambient songs. Great use of vocals as an instrument to match the synths & cello. Just listen to my favourite track, it gives you a great idea of the sonic treat you're in for. agutterfan
UK singer-songwriter Alex Pester perfects his homespun baroque pop on an vast, largely home-recorded LP that finds elegance in simplicity. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 3, 2021
I have listened to bluegrass and old-timey style banjo music for many years. Nora Brown has the most poetic interpretation of these styles that I have heard so far. She is the John Fahey of banjo (but also with striking vocals). brit_b
